Sport plays an important part in the life of the School. We have excellent facilities, including 70 acres of expertly maintained playing fields, a new astro turf facility, a swimming pool, 6 netball/tennis courts, an indoor sports hall incorporating a multi-purpose area and separate rooms for weight-training and cardio-vascular exercises, a separate gymnasium, 2 hockey pitches, indoor and outdoor cricket nets and 8 football pitches.
In the Michaelmas and Lent terms, the main sports are soccer, hockey and netball, while in the summer we concentrate on cricket, athletics, swimming, rounders and tennis. Chigwell enjoys a national reputation in soccer, cricket and boys and girls hockey, and there is a comprehensive and challenging inter-school fixture list at all levels for all major games.
We aim to give all pupils the opportunity to play games in a positive, fun and safe environment where the pupils’ development is the main focus.
